Caleb Shoemaker is an author, speaker, educator, and super stay at home dad. He writes and speaks about Orthodox Christian education and home life. A classical educator, Caleb dedicates his time to seeing the average Orthodox family realize the fullness of the Tradition into which they have been baptized as it relates to their marriages, their children, and their careers.
Caleb is the former head of the Latin and Bible departments at Augustine Classical Academy where he wrote and published curricula for students ages 12-18 years old on subjects such as Latin grammar, Christocentricity of the Old Testament, Great Works of Theology and Church History. He is currently headmaster, lead teacher, and loving parent at Hagia Sophia Academy–the Shoemaker family homeschooling endeavor–for his four amazing children (three of four pictured).
Caleb’s mission and purpose are to challenge and encourage Orthodox Christian parents regarding home and family life–particularly as it relates to education, parenting, and parish involvement. “There’s remarkably little information among Orthodox Christians about what the Church has to say in regards to the way we raise and educate our children.” Caleb is available to speak for conferences, retreats, and teacher training. His newest book–written with Elissa Bjeletich— is scheduled to be released by Ancient Faith Press in the Spring of 2016. Full of practical tips, advice, and training this unique book explores the importance of connecting home and parish life within the Eastern Orthodox Christian context to parents.
